August 2nd, 2022 – MUFG Innovation Partners Co., Ltd. (MUIP), a corporate venture capital fund and a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG), has recently invested in HiJoJo Partners Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Spyridon Mentzas; “HiJoJo Partners”) which aims to democratize investment opportunity through funds which invest in domestic and overseas mid-to-late startup companies with a focus on unicorn companies (*1). Through the investment in HiJoJo Partners, MUIP aims to promote the development of an ecosystem that nurtures promising startups in the capital market and provide investment opportunities to investors. This aligns with the Japanese government’s aim of unlocking startup growth by fostering a liquid secondary trading market.
